New Staff Onboarding

Please follow this process when new staff join your repository team.

  1. Notify the Arca Office, and let us know:
    • The new user's contact information, including name, email, and title
    • What the new person's role is (are they ingesting/editing content; working on site configurations; managing the repository, etc.)
    • What communications they'll need to receive (e.g. the Arca Admins mailing list; ConsortiaManager billing contact)
  2. Create an account for them in your repository with the appropriate role:
    • Go to /admin/people and add the new user
    • Give them an appropriate Drupal role for their work
  3. The Arca Office will provide them with an account in the Arca Sandbox
  4. Send the new user to the Training page, and have them review:
    • Orientation: provides an overview of Arca's history and context; explains and demonstrates how the service works; and outlines your roles and responsibilities as members, and Arca's responsibilities to you; and
    • Basic Training: Modularized videos covering all key repository skills and tasks.
      • While logged into the Sandbox, user should follow the instructions in the video and replicate the tasks being demonstrated.
      • Training tasks should only be done in the Sandbox, not in the production repository.
  5. If the new user has further questions about the training or their tasks, they should contact the Arca Office; we will be happy to answer questions or meet with them if needed.
