Collection Metadata Display

Adjusting the Collection Header Description field length

The Collection Header provides a description and image at the top of the Collection page. Long descriptions are truncated by default. These instructions from discoverygarden describe how to adjust the description length.

Enabling collection metadata block

Collection-level metadata beyond the Title and the Description included in the Collection Header is not enabled to display by default.

To enable the Collection Metadata block:

  • Go to Structure > Block Layout.
  • Scroll down to the Viewer section. There should be one block listed there titled Repository Item: Collection Metadata.
  • Click the Enable button on the far right.

Folding the collection metadata block by default

Once enabled, your collection metadata block will display unfolded by default (i.e. all metadata will be immediately visible under the Collection Header).

To keep this metadata block folded by default:

  1. Head to Structure > Content Types > Repository Item > Manage display.
  2. Click Repository Item: Collection Metadata
  3. Scroll down to the table with the columns Field, Label, and Format.
  4. Click the gear icon on the far right of the item in the first row, simply titled Metadata.
  5. The row will expand to display more options. Toggle OFF the option to Display element open by default.
  6. Click Update on the section to keep this configuration AND click Save at the bottom of the page.

Changing the displayed fields for collection metadata

To configure which fields are displayed within the collection metadata block, follow steps 1–3 in the section above, then:

  • Find the field that you would like to hide.
  • On the left of each field's row, you will see an icon with four arrows . Click the icon and drag the row down to the Disabled section near the bottom of the table.
  • Click Save at the bottom of the page.
